Eight British tourists arrested for 'brawling on train' and 'pooing on toilet floor' leaving "unbelievable mess"
Eight British tourists accused of brawling on a train and pooing on its toilet floor have been arrested in Amsterdam. Police were waiting for the men at the station after witnesses said about 10 to 15 people were fighting on a train on its way to Amsterdam, the Netherlands, from Brussels in Belgium. The train toilets were made "unusable" and in an "unbelievable mess," police said. Dutch police arrested the unnamed men at Amsterdam Central Station as they left a high-speed Thalys train.
Witnesses told local media that around 12 police officers came to detain the 'unruly Brits' and bungled them into waiting police vans.
Speaking about the tip-off, a spokesman for Amsterdam police told local media: "The information was enough to detach a welcoming committee on the platform.
"We waited for the train and sealed off the surroundings to arrest all those involved."
He added that as well as reportedly fighting, the Brits had apparently vandalised the train toilets, saying: "They also made four toilets unusable by defecating next to the toilet instead of in it.
"It was an unbelievable mess."
All eight British tourists are reported to be held on charges of assault but it is not clear whether they were remanded in custody or bailed.
