Make better decisions': Katie Hopkins accuses Amber Rudd of 'defending Luton Islamists' after right-wing activist banned from entering UK
While she's no stranger to controversy, Katie Hopkins has been whipping up trouble once again on Twitter this time accusing Home Secretary Amber Rudd of siding with Luton Islamists.
Katie was speaking out in defence of far-right political activist Lauren Southern, who claimed she'd been banned from the UK for distributing 'racist material'.
After hearing Canadian born Southern's story, the former Apprentice star took to Twitter in her support.
"Dear AmberRudd - you have detained Lauren Southern in Calais and prevented her from entering the U.K. She is a Christian Conservative. You have sided with the Islamists of Luton. You need to make better decisions ma'am," ranted Katie.
Katie, 43, then shared her Notice Of Refusal To Enter the UK, which claimed she'd been 'involved in the distribution of racist material in Luton,' on the 24 February 2018.
Activist Southern has gained a level of notoriety as a right-wing internet personality in recent years on the back of controversial book Barbarians: How baby boomers, Immigrants and Islam screwed my generation.
The 22-year-old now posts videos from political protests to her YouTube channel and her Instagram page is packed with snaps of her posing with guns and American flags
During an appearance on Sky News in 2016, presenter Kay Burley cut off Southern over a vile anti-immigration rant on live TV.
Southern questioned why legal migration exists when she could “put on some bronzer” and arrive via boat “with the Koran”
In a discussion about Donald Trump’s presidential campaign and his pledges on immigration , she said: "Everyone seems to feel so bad for all these illegal immigrants and all these refugees coming in on boats.
"What about the people waiting five years to come in legally?
I don’t know why legal immigration even exists anymore when I can just put on some bronzer, get on a dingy boat and just show up at the beaches of Sicily with the Koran in my hand.”
Burley quickly cut in and interrupted Southern, telling her: “No no, we are not saying things like that on my programme.”
She later branded the 21-year-old Canadian a “nasty racist” and added: “Not on my show again.”
Speaking to Mirror Online after the incident, Southern refused to apologise over her on-air remarks and hit back at Burley branding her a “laughing stock”.
The right-wing political activist said: “I don’t know how Kay Burley thinks she’s the mature one in this situation when she’s made herself a laughing stock on Twitter.”
