Loyal dog refuses to leave hospital where his murdered owner died four months ago
A devoted dog has refused to leave the hospital where his owner died four months ago.
The dedicated pooch has been there since he chased the ambulance that took his best friend - a homeless man murdered on the streets in Brazil.
A charity have since tried to re-home the dog, but he ran away from his new owners to restart his vigil, waiting for his departed master. The unnamed dog has been waiting outside the Santa Casa hospital in Novo Horizonte. According to the financial director of Santa Casa, Osvaldo Palota Sobrinho, the animal arrived after his owner, 59, was stabbed. Now he sits outside the hospital everyday - taking short breaks to wander off to find water or food but always returning to his blanket at the hospital's front door.
He has also won over the staff at the hospital who have started feeding him and bringing him blankets to cope with the cold weather.
"He's extremely tame, docile and quiet," Osvaldo told G1 .
But the dog is also extremely dedicated.
After being re-homed hospital staff were shocked to find him back outside their door.
He had run over three kilometres to get back to the hospital.
Lawyer Cristine Sardella, who shared a post about the loyal pup on social media, said she was moved by his dedication.
She said: "He stares inside the hospital, gives the impression that the owner is waiting."
